The HHS class of '62 has undertaken a very worthy cause and could use some help. Many of you who may not otherwise know of this will probably want to pitch in and even attend the reception featuring Coach Harris' son. I could not get the picture of the plaque to transfer here, but it is very fitting for a man of Coach Harris' stature.
On September 11, 2015 the football stadium at Harding University High School will be dedicated to and change its name to Coach Dave Harris Stadium. Countless hours were devoted to this project.
A group of people from Myers Park and Harding took their ideas to the Mecklenburg School Board and received approval. A plaque will be placed in a garden area between the football field and the track.
We volunteered our class to pay for this plaque. We felt that since we were the first class to graduate from the "new" Harding, it would be our honor to do so. We have already received many thank you's from other classes for stepping up and taking responsibility for this.
The cost of the plaque will be $1500.00. We have raised about one third of the cost. If you would like to make a donation, please make your check to HHS Class of 62 and mail it to Roger Sellers at 257 Midway Lake Road, Mooresville, NC 28115
There will be a reception at the Harding University High School on September 11th for former students, cheerleaders and football players beginning at 5:00 PM. Andy Harris (Coach Harris' son) and his wife, Sherry, will be there to meet everyone. Andy is a wonderful speaker and has lots of good stories to tell about growing up the son of Coach Harris. We hope you will be able to drop by and say hello to him.
